Natural History

I collected the type specimens of this species in a montane moist forest habitat, in a Winkler sample of sifted leaf litter from the Wilson Botanical Garden. I collected the species a second time in a small fragment of montane riparian forest, at the Los Llanos Biological Station near Monteverde. This is also a mid-montane moist forest habitat. I found a nest by following workers recruiting to cookie crumbs. The nest was in a rock crevice in the splash zone of a small stream.
