Range

Costa Rica: Cordillera Volcanica Central, Braulio Carrillo National Park, Barva transect at 1070m and 1500m.

Identification

Preorbital carina sinuous or straight, extending a short distance past eye and directed toward posterolateral vertex margin; in face view lateral and posterolateral tubercles weak to absent, such that sides of head appear evenly rounded; relative to JTL-003 anterolateral pronotal tubercles shorter and broader, posterolateral vertex margins with less developed tubercle (JTL-006 and JTL-003 appear to sort into two discrete morphological forms at 1100m and 1500m sites on the Barva Transect in Braulio Carrillo National Park, but the distinction is blurred in specimens from elsewhere in Costa Rica).

Similar species: JTL-003.

Natural History

This species inhabits mature wet forest. It is known only from the 1070m and 1500m sites on the Barva Transect in Braulio Carrillo National Park. Numerous workers were collected in the quantitative sampling by the ALAS project, in Winkler samples, Berlese samples, and flight intercept traps.
