Range
Costa Rica: Cordillera de Tilar‡n and Cordillera Volcanica Central.
Identification
Scape with macrochaetae inconspicuous, little longer than abundant suberect pubescence; first gastral tergite lacking appressed pubescence; color light brown; face shiny.
Natural History
This species occurs in wet forest habitats. I know it from two collections: a Winkler sample from Refugio Eladio at 800m elevation in the Pe–as Blancas Valley, and workers on extrafloral nectaries of Impatiens walleriana near Bajo la Hondura at 1100m in Braulio Carrillo National Park.
Comments
These collections are curiously similar to P. austroccidua. They have the reduced macrochaetae on the scapes, but the coloration is different, the face is shiny, and there is no blue reflection.
