Costa Rica (type locality), Honduras, Guatemala.
Identification
Mandibles with 6 teeth, gradually diminishing in size toward base; preocular carina extending all the way back to the vertex margin, forming ventral border of antennal scrobe; propodeal spines present; node of petiole bidentate.
Similar species: Cyphomyrmex snellingi.
Natural History
This species inhabits mid-elevation cloud forest. The types are workers collected in sifted litter samples by Bob Anderson, from the Cordillera de Tilar‡n and Cordillera de Guanacaste. The ALAS project collected alate queens from Malaise traps at the 1100m site on the Barva Transect. The LLAMA project collected workers from sifted litter samples from cloud forest sites in Honduras and Guatemala.
