Range
Costa Rica: mid-elevation Atlantic slope.
Identification
Minor worker: Propodeum laterally compressed with a sharp dorsal keel, keel forming a projecting lobe anteriorly; distinctive red, brown, and yellow color pattern; surface mat with sparse appressed coarse white pubescence.
Similar species: The only other Costa Rican species with a sharp propodeal keel is C. sericeiventris, which is much larger, dark colored with yellow pubescence, and the keel is low and does not form a projecting lobe.
Natural History
This species inhabits mature rainforest canopy. It is known from two workers collected in a canopy fogging sample during the 2003 Project ALAS expeditions to El Ceibo, a 500m elevation site on the Barva Transect in Braulio Carrillo National Park.
