Costa Rica: Atlantic slope of Cordillera Volcanica Central.

Identification

Minor worker: Propodeum with distinct pair of posteriorly projecting subtriangular spines; dorsal face of propodeum subrectangular, longer than wide in dorsal view; propodeal spines widely spaced; first gastral tergite with very dilute pubescence, not obscuring integument; petiole with posteriorly projecting medial spine; propodeal suture deeply impressed.

Natural History

I know this species from only one collection. I was collecting along the new roadcut for the Guapiles highway, just above the Rio Sucio. This was a wet forest site, with many recently felled trees. I found a stray worker.

Specimen data: Prov. San Jose, Carrillo, Braulio Carrillo National Park, 10¡09'N 83¡55'W, 500m, 20 Sep 1980 (J. Longino).

Notes

This species combines features of mucronatus and raphaelis.
