Range
Costa Rica (wet to moist forested habitats in lowlands of Pacific slope).
Identification
Minor worker: propodeum very narrow and elongate, in cross section tectiform (tent-like, like an inverted "V"), without a distinct angle separating lateral and dorsal faces; clypeus with median longitudinal keel; mesosoma very elongate and narrow in lateral view; pilosity very sparse, in face view no erect setae from lateral or posterior borders of head; pronotum with about three setae, mesonotum with two, propodeum with two, sparse erect setae on gaster; erect setae long and stout; integument mat; color largely red brown.
Natural History
This is a relatively common species on the Osa Peninsula and vicinity, and I have one collection from the San Luis Valley just below Monteverde. Workers are relatively common nocturnal foragers, although I have seen them during the day tending Homoptera and at extrafloral nectaries. I have seen them as army ant prey. I have seen two nests, both in rotten branches near the ground. One was on the ground and one was suspended in low vegetation.
