| Genus List | Species list |
This genus is currently known only from the Old World, in southern Europe, northern Africa, India, Southeast Asia, and Australia (Shattuck 1992). I recently discovered a thriving Bothriomyrmex colony in Costa Rica, but at this point it is unknown whether it is a native New World species (which would be of considerable biogeographic interest) or a recently introduced species (of interest to those studying exotic pests). I have not yet determined whether it is conspecific with any of the currently described species.
