Range

Costa Rica (type locality), Mexico (Fernandez and MacKay 2003, Fernandez 2003). Costa Rica: Monteverde cloudforest at 1600m; Volcan Barva cloud forest. In Monteverde, seems to have a parapatric distribution with laevigatus. This species inhabits the wet ridgecrest cloudforest; laevigatus inhabits the flanking moist forest on the Pacific side, and occurs in Penas Blancas at Eladio's.

Identification

Face and dorsum of promesonotum generally striate, but with a small smooth spot in the center of the promesonotum; postpetiole broadly rounded posteriorly, not projecting over gaster; propodeal spines relatively short, subacute; hypostomal tooth, if visible at all, a minute, sharp dentical; WL=0.63mm (n=1).

Natural History

Inhabits forest floor litter. Known only from Winkler samples.
