Range

Mexico to Colombia, Dominican Republic; sea level to 1750m. Costa Rica: Central Valley and Pacific lowlands.

Identification

Mesosoma dorsum with appressed or decumbent pilosity in addition to longer erect to suberect hair; scapes with longer erect to suberect hair in addition to shorter decumbent to appressed pilosity; face and mesosoma coarsely rugose or areolate rugose, interspaces smooth or feebly punctate; WL 0.54-0.66mm; petiolar node relatively symmetric.

Notes

In addition to the material reported in Kugler (1994), Longino has collected specimens from Winkler samples from Finca La Pacifica (Guanacaste Province), Carara Biological Reserve, Corcovado National Park (Sirena). The species is known from rainforest to strongly seasonal dry forest, in forest litter. Specimens collected by Eberhard and Brown from Cerro Pico Blanco, near San Jose, Costa Rica, were under large rocks in a pasture.
