Pheidole vafra Santschi 1923

Formicidae, Hymenoptera, Insecta, Arthropoda, Animalia

Comments

Wilson (2003) considers the range of this species to be from Nicaragua to Argentina, but there are no confirmed records for Costa Rica. From the line drawings in Wilson, it looks like it would be very close to variegata, psilogaster, and cocciphaga. It looks most like psilogaster, but with normal pilosity on the gaster of the major instead of the short pile.
