Identification
Minor worker: head length 0.58mm, head width 0.54mm, scape length 0.51mm, Webers length 0.73mm (n=1). Head flattened to somewhat cordate behind; promesonotum evenly arched, mesonotal suture absent; propodeal spines short, sharp, upturned; face shining, largely smooth but with faint sculpture on vertex, stronger punctatorugose sculpture between eye and frontal carinae; pronotum punctatorugose anterodorsally, foveolate posteriorly and on humeri, large shiny patches dorsomedially and laterally; katepisternum mostly smooth, foveolate at edges; anepisternum, and propodeum feebly punctatorugose; gaster smooth and shining; dorsal pilosity abundant, long, flexuous; color orange.
Major worker: head length 1.36mm, head width 1.24mm, scape length 0.63mm (n=1). Face punctatorugose anterior to eyes and beneath sweep of scapes, medial area between frontal carinae with parallel longitudinal carinae, rest of face smooth and shining; clypeus with keel-like median carina, concave shiny area on each side of carina, bounded laterally by pair of carinae extending obliquely from bases of frontal carinae; bases of frontal carinae somewhat elevated; hypostomal margin with no medial tooth, pair of subtriangular teeth located less than one third distance to recessed teeth flanking mandibles (Figure); dorsal pilosity abundant; head with abundant setae projecting from sides of head in face view.
Range
Costa Rica (La Selva).
Natural History
Occurs in lowland rainforest; recruits to baits on forest floor; one nest observed beneath epiphytes in old treefall.
