Range

Costa Rica: Cordillera Volcanica Central (Barva transect, 1500m).

Identification

Minor worker: head length 0.49mm, head width 0.45mm, scape length 0.49mm, Webers length 0.60mm (n=1). Head flattened behind; mesonotal suture absent, promesonotum evenly arched; propodeal spines short; face, pronotum, dorsal face of propodeum smooth and shining; katepisternum, anepisternum, and side of propodeum foveate-rugose; gaster smooth and shining; dorsal pilosity abundant, long, flexuous; color red brown.

Similar species: umphreyi, JTL-127.

Natural History

This species inhabits cloud forest. During ALAS project sampling of the Barva transect a single worker was found at the 1500m site, in a Winkler sample.

Comments

Could this be a nanitic of umphreyi?
