Identification

Minor worker: head length 0.60mm, head width 0.57mm, scape length 0.55mm, Webers length 0.72mm (n=1). Head flattened behind; mesonotal suture weakly impressed to absent; propodeal spines medium length, erect; face and mesosoma punctatorugose; first gastral tergum smooth and shining; dorsal pilosity abundant, long, flexuous; color red brown or orange.

Range

Costa Rica, Honduras. Costa Rica: Monteverde, Braulio Carrillo at 1750m, Las Alturas.

Natural History

This species inhabits cloud forest leaf litter; occurs on the forest floor and in canopy soil in very wet cloudforest conditions.

Selected Records

Monteverde: 2 Winkler samples from canopy soil and one from forest floor in elfin forest.

Braulio Carrillo at 1750m: 1 Winkler sample.
