Identification
Minor worker: head length 0.62mm, head width 0.53mm, scape length 0.79mm, Webers length 0.79mm (n=1). Head evenly rounded behind, without vertex collar; promesonotal and metanotal grooves well impressed; propodeal spines of moderate length; face smooth and shiny; pronotum largely smooth and shiny, with a few transverse rugae anteriorly, sometimes faint rugae visible on humeri; katepisternum and sides of propodeum foveolate; anepisternum and dorsum of propodeum more feebly foveolate; dorsum of mesosoma smooth to very faintly sculptured; gaster smooth and shiny; dorsal pilosity moderately abundant, moderately long, flexuous; color bright yellow.
Major worker: head length 0.95mm, head width 0.92mm, scape length 0.77mm (n=1). Face largely smooth and shiny; space between eye, frontal carina, and mandibular insertion longitudinally rugose, remainder of face smooth; hypostomal margin with pair of widely-spaced teeth, each tooth sharp and needle-like, located near small recessed tooth flanking mandible; setae on face and mesosoma abundant, erect, flexuous; abundant subdecumbent setae projecting from sides of head in face view; gaster with dense, suberect pubescence, forming a silky pile, but lacking long setae.
Range
Costa Rica: southern Pacific lowlands.
Natural History
This species is known from Corcovado National Park (Sirena). Workers commonly visit extrafloral nectaries on low vegetation, and they recruit to baits.
