Identification
Minor worker: head length 0.58mm, head width 0.54mm, scape length 0.54mm, Webers length 0.73mm (n=1). Head flattened to somewhat cordate behind; promesonotum evenly arched, mesonotal suture absent; propodeal spines short, sharp, upturned; scapes foveolate; face and mesosoma uniformly foveolate; gaster smooth and shining; dorsal pilosity moderately abundant, short, stiff; setae on mesosoma with minute branches at tips; color light orange.
Major worker: head length 1.26mm, head width 1.14mm, scape length 0.65mm (n=1). Face punctatorugose beneath sweep of scapes, medial area between frontal carinae with parallel longitudinal carinae, rest of face posterior to scapes uniformly foveolate, with abrupt transition to smooth and shining vertex lobes; clypeus with keel-like median carina, concave shiny area on each side of carina, bounded laterally by pair of carinae extending obliquely from bases of frontal carinae; bases of frontal carinae somewhat elevated; hypostomal margin with no medial tooth, pair of blunt teeth located about one third distance to recessed teeth flanking mandibles; dorsal pilosity abundant; head with abundant, short, subdecument setae projecting from sides of head in face view.
Range
Amazonian Brazil and Peru north to Guyana, Venezuela, Colombia, Panama, Costa Rica, Honduras. Costa Rica: southern Pacific lowlands.
Natural History
This species inhabits lowland rainforest. It nests and forages on and near the forest floor.
