Xenochalepus amplipennis (Baly)

Hispinae, Chrysomelidae, Coleoptera, Insecta, Arthropoda, Animalia


Elongate; yellowish; head, antennae, and legs black; pronotum with black medial, longitudinal vitta; elytra with sutural vitta and apical quarter black. Head: interocular space strongly produced, rear half faintly sulcate on each side, slight carina at medial line. Antennae: half body length; compressed, tapering from segment VI to apex; segments III-XI cristate in male, less so in female; I-II short, subequal in length; I submoniliform; II subobate; III subcordate, as long as I and II combined; IV-X subequal in length, shorter than III. Pronotum: wider than long at base; conical; side margins notched in front of posterior angles, slightly but distinctly angulate just beyond middle, then obliquely converging to apex; anterior angles with obtuse tooth; sides abruptly deflexed; coarsely foveolate-punctate; disc depressed, basal half excavated; basal margin deeply excavated on each side. Elytra: dilated from base to exterior apical angles, then rounded to apex; apices deeply quadrate-emarginate; side margins finely serrulate, more coarsely posteriorly and on apical margins; each elytron with 11 rows of punctures at base; interval 2 strongly costate, 6 and 8 costate at base. Total length: 9.0 mm.
