Sceloenopla subparallela (Baly)

Hispinae, Chrysomelidae, Coleoptera, Insecta, Arthropoda, Animalia


Elongate; dark, base of femora and tibiae yellowish. Head: vertex and front impunctate, vertex with fine sulcus; small tooth between antennae; yellowish macula on each side of vertex. Antennae: 3/4 body length, slender; segments III-VII compressed, moderately dilated; I-II short, subequal in length; III longer than I-II combined; IV shorter than III; V-VII gradually decreasing in length and width. Pronotum: longer than wide; side margins straight, bisinuate, slightly but distinctly converging from base to apex; posterior angles produced, acute; anterior angles with small tooth; transversely convex, slightly flattened and depressed on rear of disc; closely, strongly variolose-punctate, punctation at sides irregular and coarser than middle; area along anterior margin impunctate. Elytra: convex; side margins parallel before middle, slightly dilated posteriorly, smooth, entire; apices obtusely rounded, margin serrulate; posterior angles with stout, acute tooth, apex of tooth directed backward; humeral callus distinct, obtuse, not produced laterally; each elytron with 11 rows of punctures at base, 10 complete rows over rest of surface. Legs: slender, elongate. Total length: 5.6-7.9 mm.
