Platocthispa championi (Baly)

Hispinae, Chrysomelidae, Coleoptera, Insecta, Arthropoda, Animalia


Brownish-yellow; antennae and eyes darker; pronotum with black medial vitta; elytra with black sutural vitta on basal half, apical half black. Head: faint medial carina; few scattered punctures on vertex; sulcus on inner margin of each eye; front oblique. Antennae: segment I subglobose; II transversely rotundate; III elongate, laterally compressed; IV-VI laterally compressed; VII transverse; VIII elongate, acute; II-VI sulcate. Pronotum: side margins sinuate, constricted behind head; small tooth in anterior angles; posterior angles acute; convex; covered with large punctures; basal impression present. Scutellum: cordate; micropunctate. Elytra: side margins dentate; apical margins strongly dentate; apices emarginate; 8 regular rows of punctures; tricostate, costa 3 strongly developed. Venter: yellowish; metasternum punctate at sides; abdominal sterna rugose at sides; abdominal sternum 5 with setae. Legs: femora mostly pale, punctate at apex; tibiae dark, punctate, fringe of setae at apex. Total length: 5.6 mm.
