Pentispa explanata (Chapuis)

Black with yellowish lateral margins of pronotum and elytra. Head: aeneous; vertex trisulcate, lateral sulci deeply impressed; apex of clypeus produced into transverse bifid plate. Antennae: more than half body length; segments I-II short, subnodose; remaining compressed; II and VII cristate. Pronotum: transverse; subconical; sides converging from base to apex, slightly bisinuate; transversely convex, flattened and excavated basally; coarsely punctate; broad bicallose, impunctate yellow vitta on each side. Elytra: gradually expanding to apex; sides finely serrulate; apical margin dilated, more strongly serrate; sutural angle broadly subquadrate-emarginate; each elytron with 8 regular rows of punctures; interspace 2 strongly costate. Total length: 6.8-8.4 mm.

Food plant: Pithecoctenium (Bignoniaceae).
