Demotispa sp.2 Staines ms

Hispinae, Chrysomelidae, Coleoptera, Insecta, Arthropoda, Animalia


Reddish-brown, relatively flat. Head: finely, sparsely punctate; faint medial sulcus. Antennae: segment I robust, inner apical margin with projection beyond base of II; II elongate, narrow with similarly shaped projection; III shorter than II, with same type of projection; IV-VI cylindrical, decreasing in length; VII-X transverse; XI bluntly rounded at apex; dark except base of I and apex of XI; hirsute. Pronotum: much narrower than base of elytra; side margins curved from base to apex, slightly recurved; posterior angles acute; anterior angles rounded; impunctate except for posterior angles. Scutellum: pentagonal; smooth. Elytra: slightly constricted behind humeri; puncture row 10 distant from side margin; convex; rows of punctures shallow. Venter: pale yellowish-brown; abdominal sterna 1 and 2 fused in middle; sterna 3-5 setose. Legs: femora robust, punctate; tibiae spatulate at apex. Total length: 7.0 mm.
