Demotispa lata Baly

Convex; head and pronotum reddish-yellow; eyes and antennae darker; elytra dark reddish-brown or blackish. Head: small; vertex sparsely punctate; front and frons projecting; medial sulcus absent. Antennae: half body length; filiform, slightly attenuated at base and apex; segments cylindrical; I-II short, subequal in length; III as long as I-II combined; V-X transverse, subequal in length; XI pointed at apex; I-VI usually yellow (sometimes only I-III); VII-XI black. Pronotum: twice as wide as long; almost as wide as base of elytra; disc sparsely, deeply punctate; sides margined, straight and nearly parallel from base to near middle, then rounded and converging to apex; anterior angles produced, obtuse; posterior angles acute. Scutellum: broadly triangular, smooth. Elytra: wider than base of pronotum; subquadrate; apices obtusely rounded; cojointly emarginate at sutural angle; sides margined, smooth; punctures large, little impressed; humeri rounded; constriction behind humeri; rows of punctures converge and unite at apex. Venter: reddish brown; meta-, and mesosterna darker than rest. Legs: tibiae with fringe of setae at apex; femora sparsely punctate. Total length: 4.7-5.7 mm.
