Chalepus tappesi Chapuis

Small; head, antennae, and legs black; pronotum orangish-yellow with variable black markings; elytra black with orangish-yellow humeral area of variable size and shape. Head: vertex alutaceous; medial sulcus present; sulcus on inner margin of each eye; row of strigulose punctures on outer margin of each eye; frons projecting; front densely punctate. Antennae: segments I-II transverse, punctate, subequal in length; III-V cylindrical, III longest; VI-X transverse; XI acutely pointed at apex; III-VI sulcate; VII-XI hirsute. Pronotum: basal impression present; covered with large, dense punctures, except disc; side margins straight from base to middle, then convergent; tooth in anterior angles; posterior angles acute. Scutellum: quadrate; alutaceous. Elytra: side margins smooth for basal half, sparsely dentate on apical half; apices dentate; rows of punctures strongly impressed, regular; four entire costae. Venter: prosternum orangish-yellow, rest of venter black; mesosternum alutaceous; abdominal sternites with row of whitish setae at apex. Legs: profemora yellowish-red at base, rest black; femora punctate; tibiae with fringe of setae at apex. Total length: 5.5 mm.
