Elongate; dark reddish brown; antennal segments 1-5 and eyes black. Head: vertex with fine, scattered punctures; medial carina present; eyes dark; slightly depressed between eyes; frons not projecting. Antennae: segments I-VII reddish, rest black; I as long as II and III combined; male with segments II and III compressed, projecting inward; female with segments II and III cylindrical; IV-X transverse, decreasing in length; XI elongate, pointed at apex, subequal in length to I. Pronotum: almost as wide as base of elytra; wider than long; irregularly punctate; sides margined, canaliculate, parallel for basal 3/4, then convergent; anterior angles rounded, produced; posterior angles rectangular. Scutellum: pentagonal; apex acute. Elytra: wider than base of pronotum; sides parallel; apices cojointly rounded; punctures large, little impressed; rows of punctures converge and unite irregularly at apex. Venter: meso- and metasterna punctate at sides; paler than dorsum; abdominal sterna 1 and 2 fused in middle; sterna 3-5 setose; last sternite emarginate in male; truncate, lightly bisinuate in female. Legs: profemora canaliculate on underside; femora punctate; tibiae spoonshaped at apex, with fringe of setae. Total length: 8.0 -8.4 mm.
Larval host plants: Heliconia sp. and C. insignis.
