Cephaloleia distincta Baly

Reddish-brown, antennae, eyes, and parts of legs darker. Head: finely and sparsely punctate, more punctate toward eyes; depressed between eyes; median sulcus present; frons not projecting; carina between antennal bases on front. Antennae: less than half body length; female with segments II-XI cylindrical, I thicker, compressed at base; male with I-IV compressed, dilated, I subclavate, II-IV subtriangular, II short, wider than long, III-IV less dilated, each longer than II; V-X transverse, subequal in length; XI pointed at apex; I-IV punctate; V-XI setose. Pronotum: slightly wider than long; convex; disc sparsely punctate; punctation more dense laterally; sides parallel, convergent at apex; apical margin sinuate; anterior angles rounded; posterior angles rectangular. Scutellum: longer than wide, pentagonal, apex acute, smooth. Elytra: convex; strongly punctate-striate, punctures black; puncture rows converge and unite at apex; apices individually rounded; humeri almost impunctate; narrow black sutural vitta present on some specimens. Venter: prosternum smooth in middle, rugose at sides; meso- and metasterna smooth in middle, punctate at sides; abdominal sterna dark, paler laterally, setose. Legs: variable in color- all dark or tibiae and tarsi dark, femora pale. Total length: 7.6-9.6 mm.

Adults collected on Calathea sp. (Marantaceae). Adults and larvae collected on Heliconia imbricata (Musaceae-Heliconioideae).
