Cephaloleia costaricensis Uhmann

Small, oval; convex; head and pronotum red; elytra metallic blue. Head: vertex impunctate; medial sulcus absent; frons not projecting. Antennae: subulate; segment I cylindrical; II transverse, reddish; III cylindrical, longer than I or II; IV-X transverse, subequal in length; XI long, cuspidate, subequal in length to III. Pronotum: widest at base, twice as wide as long; disc transverse, arched, depression on each side; finely punctate; sides margined, brighter colored than disc, convergent for basal two-thirds then rounded; anterior angles pointed, projecting; posterior angles acute. Scutellum: broadly triangular, black with reddish-brown center. Elytra: oval; apices cojointly rounded; sides margined, finely toothed, flattened; rows of punctures distinct at base, disappear after middle; depression behind humeri. Venter: yellowish-brown; prosternum red; meso- and metasterna red in middle, darker laterally; abdomen setose, red; segments 1 and 2 not fused in middle. Legs: yellow; tibiae with setae on inner surface. Total length: 3.0-3.8 mm.
