Description: Shell diameter greater than 2 times height, shell up to 2.6 mm diameter, 1.5 mm high, with 5.5 whorls; animal whitish; head gray, tentacles black; the lip rib usually forms by the second or third whorl (shell 1 to 2 mm diameter) and can sometimes be seen through the transparent shell as much as one half whorl away from the aperture edge as can be seen above. The animal can resorb the rib and it is possible to find young specimens lacking the rib; the rib is short in young specimens.

Natural History: Widespread in lowland forests; most commonly encountered in leaf litter of deciduous trees.

Etymology: pristys – a saw, loma – border, alluding to the serrate marginal lip of P. lansingi; named for Mr. A. Ten Eyck Lansing of Burlington, NJ, “a young student of mollusks.”
