Range
Mexico to Colombia; sea level to 1200m. Costa Rica: Monteverde and Cerro Cacao.
Identification
Mesosoma dorsum with appressed or decumbent pilosity in addition to longer erect to suberect hair; scapes with appressed pubescence but lacking erect setae; Setae on gaster differentiated into two distinct kinds, short decumbent and long erect; WL 0.66-0.73mm.
Notes
Kugler (1994) examined material of this species as follows: (1) workers from Chiapas State, Mexico; (2) workers from near Matagalpa, Nicaragua; (3) queen from Monteverde, Costa Rica; (4) queens from two sites in Magdalena Department in Colombia. To these records we add an additional collection of workers from a Winkler sample collected by Longino at Cerro Cacao. The collections from Mexico, Nicaragua, and Costa Rica have all been from moist forest litter, 1000-1200m elevation. The collections from Colombia are tropical dry forest sites near sea level.
