Mesosomal dorsum with erect hairs; opening of propodeal spiracle viewed perpendicularly slit-shaped, more than twice as long as wide; mandible with approximately 13 teeth, and finely but distinctly striate over dorsal surface; dorsal outline of mesosoma interrupted by a distinct, impressed propodeal groove, so that the mesonotum forms a convexity separate from the more or less convex propodeal dorsum; in full-face view, a line drawn through the centers of the eyes falls near head mid-head, crossing near posterior limits of frontal carinae; cheeks with a distinct carina reaching from clypeal wing to eye margin; anterior face of petiolar node perpendicular, forming an angular anterodorsal summit; sides of petiolar node longitudinally striate or rugulose on the lower half or more; often irregularly striate or rugulose on lower part of posterior face as well, upper part of posterior face smooth.

Natural History

This species occurs in wet forest habitats. I have collected it only three times; the collections were of foraging workers in the low arboreal zone, all from Sirena in Corcovado National Park. One worker was at extrafloral nectaries of Passiflora. I have also seen one worker that L. and A. Alonso collected at the Wilson Botanical Garden near San Vito.
