Range
Guatemala, Costa Rica, Colombia (Brown 1960, Lattke 1991). Costa Rica: southern Atlantic lowlands.
Identification
Antennae 12-segmented; body size far larger than orizabana or degenerata; lobes of frontal carinae separated by a distinct gap.
Notes
The species is known from only three collections. It was described from a queen from Guatemala (Brown 1960). Lattke (1991) described the worker, based on additional material from Costa Rica and Colombia. The Costa Rican material that Lattke examined, and still the only known Costa Rican specimens, consists of 5 workers and a queen from the Atlantic lowlands [Limon: Hitoy Cerere Biological Reserve, 9¡40'N, 83¡02'W, 200m, 29 Aug 1985 (J. Longino #0942-s)]. The specimens were from a sample of sifted leaf litter from the forest floor (Winkler sample). The Colombian material that Lattke examined was from Isla Gorgona, off the southwestern coast of Colombia.
