Dear fellow Pheidologists,

I had an idea in a conversation with Hamish Robertson when I attended the ant course in 2003, but I only had the chance to implement it now. The idea is to have a tool that would take measurements from an unidentified Pheidole species and then provide a diagram with itÕs position among morphologically similar Pheidole species. One could then look up the diagnostic features of the closest hits.

IÕm not sure how well this would work, so IÕd appreciate your help in testing this little program I wrote. All I need is to have standard measurements in mm (HW, HL, SL, EL, PW) of majors and minors. At this point, I only have the species in Wilson (2003). You donÕt need to tell me the species, since this should be a blind ÒexperimentÓ. Later on, IÕm planning to test if including less characters would compromise the obtained results.

Looking forward to your contributions,
