Tetramorium of Costa Rica

Tetramorium is a very diverse genus in the Old World tropics, particularly Africa. In the New World, there is a small representation of native species in southern North America, but the Neotropics appear to have no native species, instead being sporadically inhabited by a few tramp species that favor synanthropic habitats and have no doubt been dispersed by human activity.

The genus has been revised by Bolton (1976, 1977, 1979, 1980).
