This distinctive species is known from two lowland rainforest sites: La Selva biological Station and Carara Biological Reserve. At La Selva, workers have been collected in numerous canopy fogging samples, and a nest was collected in a small dead stick lodged in understory vegetation. At Carara, an aggregation of workers was found in a dead stick, below a plug separating them from a nest of Pachycondyla crenata.
