The genus Myrmicocrypta in Costa Rica

This is a genus of tiny attines that occurs throughout the mainland Neotropics, from Mexico to Argentina (Kempf 1972). The genus is in taxonomic disarray, with considerable variation and no clear understanding of species boundaries. There are 28 described species and subspecies with type localities scattered across the range, but there has never been a synthetic taxonomic revision. Species with type localities near Costa Rica are:

Myrmicocrypta dilaceratum Forel 1885. MEXICO

Myrmicocrypta ednaella Mann 1922. HONDURAS

Myrmicocrypta godmani Forel 1899. NICARAGUA

Myrmicocrypta subnitida Forel 1899. PANAMA

Myrmicocrypta triangulata Forel 1912. GUATEMALA

Jeffry Sossa, a student working with Ted Schultz at the Smithsonian, is working on this group. I have loaned him all of my specimens and at this point cannot provide any information on species-level identification in Costa Rica.
