Costa Rica (Atlantic slope).
Identification
Antennae 11-segmented; in lateral view, dorsal and ventral margins of fourth abdominal segment convex; pilosity relatively long, giving a scruffy appearance; dorsum of third abdominal segment with distinctly formed, entire, puncta; dorsum of fourth abdominal segment punctate anteriorly; compared to JTL-005, pilosity relatively more erect and size smaller.
Natural History
This species occurs in wet forest leaf litter and is known mainly from Winkler samples. This is the most common species at La Selva Biological Station. The ALAS project has yielded specimens from 13 Winkler samples and two Berlese samples. It has also obtained specimens from eight Winkler samples from the 500m site, and one Winkler sample from the 1070m site on the Barva transect. Also, an alate queen was collected in a Malaise trap sample from the 500m site, on 23 February 2003. I have also collected it at Hitoy Cerere Biological Reserve and Casa Plastico near Rara Avis.
