Range

Costa Rica, southern Mexico.

Identification

Body covered with short, lanose pilosity.

Natural History

I know this species from two collections: workers in a Winkler sample of sifted leaf litter from the forest floor, in a moist forest patch at the side of the San Luis River, at 850m elevation on the Pacific slope below Monteverde, Costa Rica; and a Winkler sample taken by Bob Anderson in wet oak/pine forest, 1400m elevation, near Ocosingo, Chiapas, Mexico.

Comments

The only difference detected to now between this species and tatusia is the presence or absence of the lanose pubescence. Given that tatusia is now known to have two distinct pilosity forms (long setae present or absent) as intraspecific variation, it is possible that this form will also be revealed to be a pilosity variant of tatusia.
