Guatemala to Panama; sea level to 1250m. Costa Rica: widespread in wet forest, sea level to 500m.

This species is commonly collected from Berlese or Winkler samples of forest floor leaf litter (Kugler 1994, additional Longino Winkler samples from Manuel Antonio, Hitoy Cerere, Turrialba, Sirena, La Selva). At La Selva Biological Station, Longino observed workers scattered over the newly sawed face of a dead log.
