Range

Costa Rica.

Identification

Metanotum lacking longitudinal carinae; anterior margin of clypeus convex, with thin fringe of smooth cuticle; mesosoma length about 2mm; scape index (scape length/head width) about 1.3; lateral margins of frontal lobes angular in face view; ventral margin of postpetiole with a spine (known from one worker, possibly aberrant).

Natural History

This single strange worker was collected at the 1070m site on the Barva Transect in Braulio Carrillo National Park, as part of the 2001 Project ALAS expeditions. It was collected in a Malaise trap. The habitat is montane wet forest.
