Range
Costa Rica (type locality), Mexico (Fernandez and MacKay 2003, Fernandez 2003). Costa Rica: rainforests of Atlantic and southern Pacific lowlands, below 500m elevation.
Identification
Postpetiole broadly rounded posteriorly, not projecting over gaster; mesosomal dorsum irregularly rugose; eye composed of 4 or fewer facets; pilosity on mesosoma and gaster short and dense; dorsal profile of mesosoma more or less evenly curved, without distinct step between mesonotum and dorsal face of propodeum; Weber's length 0.47mm (n=1).
Natural History
Inhabits forest floor litter. Known only from Winkler samples.
Comments
Fernandez (2003) lists among the paratypes of this species a collection of mine, JTL2339-s, a Winkler sample from Estacion Cacao at 1500m. My records of material from this collection include only Adelomyrmex laevigatus and tristani. This may be an error in the publication. All other records suggest A. longinoi is a lowland species, and it would be unlikely to find it at the 1500m Cacao site.
