Carinispa nevermanni Uhmann

Hispinae, Chrysomelidae, Coleoptera, Insecta, Arthropoda, Animalia


Overall black with orange markings on pronotum and base of elytra. Head: vertex impunctate, trisulcate; frons projecting. Antennae: segment I subglobular; II transverse; III-V cylindrical, VI-VII transverse; VIII pointed at apex. Pronotum: wider than long, widest at base; densely punctate; basal impression present; tooth in anterior angles. Scutellum: quadrate. Elytra: 8 rows of punctures; four costae; sutural margin carinate; side margins sparsely dentate; apical margins strongly dentate. Venter: abdomen yellowish, rest black. Total length: 5.5 mm.

Food plants: Malpighia glabra L. and Bunchiosa (Malpighiaceae).
