Identification Frons with narrow, raised, longitudinal lines; prothorax very convex with a deep central furrow; elytra with 14, deep, regular, punctate striae; male protarsi not dilated; males easily recognized by the broad excavated terminal segment of all palps; head and prothorax deep shiny black with more or less pronounced violaceous or coppery lustred elytra. Range Coastal areas from northwestern Oregon to southwestern British Columbia.Natural History Restricted to heavy "Vancouverian" forests. Both larvae and adults are able to hibernate. |
