Identification
Right mandible has a deep transverse notch; prothorax with strong isodiametric microsculpture, making it dull and non-iridescent; prothorax short with well marked hind angles; legs and antennae rufo-piceous or darker; terminal segment of all tarsi with double row of stiff setae underneath. Canadian form of species is entirely black or dark brown or black-brown. California specimens are paler but antennae is always infuscated.Range
Species is exclusively western, south to California, east to Nevada, and north to British Columbia.
