Identification
Difficulty in defining species within this genus due to variability in the genitalia. Head with convex eyes and mandibles explanate laterally, as in Leistus; prothorax small and narrowed basally; elytra with a few impressed foveae on the fourth and sometimes the seventh interval.Range

Natural History
Three species found in North America, north of Mexico. Species are hygrophilous and active in sunshine, often using their full hind wings.
